Gas prices in Mississippi are up an average of 24 cents in the last two weeks, now at their highest level since the middle of June. AAA says the statewide average is $3.67 this morning. Locally, four counties are lower than that: Winston at $3.58, Leake and Neshoba at $3.60 and Choctaw at $3.65. The auto club’s countywide average in Holmes and Montgomery counties is $3.73, in Attala County it’s $3.78 and in Carroll County $3.88. Looking at individual gas stations, GasBuddy.com says the cheapest prices it’s found locally are in Carthage and Philadelphia at $3.39. You can fill up in Louisville for as little as $3.47 a gallon and in Kosciusko for $3.59.
