HEAT ADVISORY for Friday shown in orange on map above
After a day off from the worst of the heat stress, the entire local area will be back under a heat advisory today. The heat index is forecast to climb as high as 106 in Kosciusko, Carthage and Durant and 105 in Philadelphia even though actual temperatures may not exceed the lower 90s. Also, we’ll see a good chance of rain and thunderstorms that could help to take the edge off the heat stress.
On Saturday, there’s a better chance of heat relief as a frontal boundary inches across Mississippi with slightly drier air behind it. However, a higher level of heat stress is forecast to return next week.
