The City of Kosciusko is moving into the installation phase of its emergency backup generator project following recent approvals by the Board of Aldermen.

The approximately $300,000 project is largely funded through a federal grant administered by the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) and FEMA, which the city originally applied for two years ago.

Following a reverse auction conducted through Central Bidding, the board selected Taylor Power Systems as the equipment provider and approved Edgar Electrical to complete the installation work.

The project includes two primary units:

  • City Hall: A permanent backup generator will be installed to maintain municipal administration power during outages.

  • Wastewater System: A second generator will be located at the city’s wastewater lagoon. Mounted on a trailer, city crews will be able to transport the mobile unit throughout town to connect to transfer switches installed at five critical lift stations, powering aerators and transfer pumps during extended power failures.
