KOSCIUSKO, Miss.–A woods fire which was first reported about 3:30 Friday afternoon burned about 80 acres, said Attala County Fire Chief Tim Cox.
The fire was on Attala Rd. 5210 between Harmony Baptist Church and Carson Ridge Church in the Carson Ridge area.
Volunteer firefighters from the Central and McCool stations reponded.
It was estimated by firefighters on the scene that when the Mississippi Forestry Commission arrived they would need several dozers to help get the fire contained.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
