KOSCIUSKO, Miss.–A police officer chased a man through and off the square about 2:30 p.m. Saturday, while the Natchez Trace Festival was still in progress.
The chase started on the square and ended when the officer was able to catch the man at Madison and Jefferson streets. The officer told dispatchers that the man, described as a Black male with blue jeans, dropped something during the chase.
Once the man was in custody, another officer radioed in and said he had recovered a bag. That was the extent of the description of the item over the radio.
The officer who caught the man walked him to the police department.
Threats Also Made
A threat to shoot up the square was also reported, with officers looking for a Black male juvenile wearing a blue helmet. That was just before 4 p.m.
