KOSCIUSKO, Miss.–At leastr two large trees were reported to have fallen, causing traffic trouble and a downed power line Friday in Attala County.
The first was on Hwy. 35 north. As volunteer firefighters neared the scene about 7 p.m., a group of neighbors were helping get the tree out of the road. It had been blocking both lanes.
One of the people who was helping remove the tree got their truck stuck, which meant one lane of traffic was still blocked.
As that was being cleared up, about 7:30 p.m., a tree was reported down near Friendship Fire Station on Attala Rd. 3122. That tree was also responsible for a downed power line.
Volunteer firefighters were dispatched to help deal with it.
The tree was on top of the line, not quite bringing it all the way down and Entergy had to be called to shut the power off.
