SALLIS, Miss.–An Attala County deputy discovered a light pole that was sparking early Saturday morning while on a call in the Sallis area.
That was about 2 a.m. on Attala Rd. 4202.
When the deputy called it in, as a precaution fire trucks were dispacthed to the area. Entergy was also notified because of the situation involving a light pole.
A firefighter called back in a short while later and informed dispatchers that a tree had fallen on a power line and that they would not be able to tackle the issue until Entergy arrived to take care of it.
The firefighter then said that the line had fallen and was burning in the middle of the road.
A deputy was sent back out to make sure a car didn’t run across it and snag it.
Dispatchers had a tough time getting an estimate from Entergy as to when they would be sending a lineman to make sure the line was de-energized.
At 11:30 a.m. the line and tree were reported still burning, with Entergy still not having sent someone. However shortly after an firefighter reported that Entergy confirmed to them finally that the line was dead.
