Do you are going to keep paying Carthage to house inmates instead of opening the jail in Attala County??

Once you add up what it would cost to upgrade/repair everything, and what it would cost in daily operations alone, it is cheaper in the long run to house them in Leake

At some point it has to swing the other way, define “long run” is that 10 years? Is it 20 years? At some point the cost of transportation will succeed the repair/operating cost. Just wondering when that is,personally it’s seems too little value is added for having TRASH FREE roads!

As for as the cost of having a jail, Holmes, Leake counties have not shut their doors? Besides, the monies that we pay other facilities to house our inmates could be be used to pay locals for the same service. Keeping money in Attala county.

When was Attala County Jail built? When was it renovated to meet State and Federal safety requirements? How much would upgrading cost in 2026? Average arrests per month for sheriffs office and city police??? Tbh, a public hearing might be pondered by the BOS…
