With severe winter weather expected this weekend, Mayor Gwen Sims is urging residents of the Town of Ethel to stay home as much as possible.

In a message posted to the town’s official Facebook page, Mayor Sims noted that the town is not equipped to clear roads and bridges during the storm. Residents are advised to limit travel to essential trips only.

The Ethel Fire Department will have limited generator power available for those who absolutely need electricity for oxygen or other life-saving equipment. However, the town has limited space and does not have beds or cots available for public use.

Mayor Sims also encouraged elderly residents to stay with relatives if possible. “We want everyone to be safe through this difficult time,” she said.
