A fatal crash occurred this afternoon on Hwy 14 E, when a vehicle veered off the road and collided head-on with a tree.
Attala County Deputies, Attala County Fire Department, Providence Volunteers, EMS, and the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the incident. They arrived at the scene near Providence at approximately 12:12 p.m.
Attala County Fire Chief Tim Cox reported that the driver, Mr. Derell Latiker, 42, of Sallis, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. Attala County Coroner Sam Bell pronounced Mr. Latiker dead at the scene.
