FIRE WEATHER WATCH shown in tan on map above

The National Weather Service has issued a fire weather watch for much of Mississippi including the local area, in effect from 9 am until 8 pm on Friday.  A strong cold front is forecast to result in north winds up to 25 miles an hour with gusts possibly as high as 35 mph.  The winds, combined with low humidity and critically dry vegetation, will create conditions which are favorable for wildfires.  Any fires which break out could spread rapidly.
