Parts of the southeast are experiencing flash flooding and other problems from heavy rains.
Floodwaters covered roads on Wednesday in parts of eastern Mississippi and northern Alabama.
Flood watches and warnings are in place for Attala and several other counties in central Mississippi. Creeks and rivers are swollen throughout the state.
The weather service predicts as much as 8 inches of rain through Saturday.
Forecasters say the heavy rain is caused by Gulf moisture mixing with systems moving eastward across the Mississippi and Ohio valleys. (AP)
