Much of Mississippi including the local area will be back under a heat advisory today, with the afternoon heat index ranging from 105 in Philadelphia to 106 in Kosciusko and Carthage and 108 in Durant. The heat stress is forecast to increase on Sunday with heat indices reaching 108 in Kosciusko and Philadelphia, 109 in Carthage and 110 in Durant.
Also on Sunday, a Level-1 “marginal” risk of severe storms has been posted for this area with damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph possible.
