As we shift to a drier weather pattern in Mississippi this weekend, heat stress will become a problem with the heat index near 105 degrees. And the National Weather Service says it’ll only get worse early next week with the heat index in some locations possibly exceeding 110.
Here are the expected heat stress numbers for the local area next week, based on the current NWS forecast:
Philadelphia– Heat index up to 105 Monday-Tuesday.
Durant– Heat index up to 106 Monday. Heat index up to 110 Tuesday and 105 Wednesday-Thursday. Heat index up to 110 Friday.
Carthage– Heat index up to 105 Monday-Tuesday and again on Friday.
Kosciusko– Heat index up to 105 Monday-Tuesday and again on Friday.
Rain and thunderstorms will be possible starting Tuesday and could help to take the edge off the heat stress temporarily.
