Lane Tubby, a second-year automotive student at the Kosciusko-Attala Career and Technical Center (KACTC) from Ethel High School, has earned top honors at the state level, placing second in the Motorcycle Repair competition at the SkillsUSA State Conference.
This achievement qualifies Lane to advance to the national SkillsUSA Championships.
The Motorcycle Repair competition tests students’ ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of mechanical issues, requiring both technical knowledge and hands-on precision. Lane impressed judges with skill and dedication, competing against some of the state’s most talented career and technical students.
Under the guidance of instructor Alex Blanton, Lane has developed a solid foundation in automotive and small engine repair. Blanton praised the student’s work ethic and dedication to mastering the trade.
“This is a great accomplishment,” said Blanton. “Competing at the state level takes skill, focus, and determination, and placing second shows just how capable Lane is.”
SkillsUSA is a national organization that prepares students to become skilled professionals, career-ready leaders, and responsible community members. Lane’s success highlights both the strength of KACTC’s automotive program and the promise of its students on the national stage.
