It’s not often you seen students running towards a school, but that was the case this morning as members of the Kosciusko High School senior class raced through the parking lot to claim parking spots for the upcoming school year.
For a few years, seniors have been allowed to decorate their spots, but this was the first year for the what’s being called “The Running of the Students.” All seniors were lined up at 8:00 am and given the countdown by principal Cory Blaylock. Once the go ahead was given, students ran towards the spot they wanted and staked claim.
In addition to claiming a parking spot, students are allowed to decorate it. However, the spots cannot be painted, so students use colorful duct tape to decorate.
Students weren’t the only ones helping decorate though. Several moms, dads, little brothers, and little sisters all got in on the fun.
All parking places are eligible except for those marked off for teachers and the section of the parking lot that serves as the practice field for the Big Red Band.
