The Kosciusko School District is notifying parents and students after a cybersecurity incident involving the Canvas learning platform potentially exposed district-related information.
According to a statement from Superintendent Dr. Danya Turner, the district was informed that Canvas—a platform used by thousands of schools across the country—recently experienced a cybersecurity incident affecting some user data.
Canvas’ parent company, Instructure, notified the district that its ongoing investigation found Kosciusko School District information may have been included in the impacted data set. However, officials say the full scope of the breach is still not yet known and remains under investigation.
District leaders emphasized they are continuing to monitor updates and working to determine exactly what information, if any, was involved. Based on current information, they do not believe sensitive data such as Social Security numbers, passwords, birth dates, or financial information were exposed.
“Please note, this is an Instructure issue – KSD reviewed our own internal systems and there is no indication that our systems were affected by this event.”
The district says it will continue providing updates as more details become available from Instructure’s investigation.
