Future educators at the Kosciusko-Attala Career Technical Center (CTC) are stepping out of the high school lecture hall and directly into local classrooms as they officially begin their hands-on Field Experience.
The program allows Education Preparation students to move beyond textbook theory and immerse themselves in the day-to-day realities of teaching. During their placements, aspiring teachers observe instructional strategies, interact directly with students, learn classroom management techniques, and study how experienced educators design lesson plans and foster positive learning environments.
For the students involved, the program serves as an active bridge between learning about education and practicing it. Participants are encouraged to ask questions, reflect on daily classroom dynamics, and learn directly from veteran teachers.
“Field Experience is where the learning really comes to life,” said Tessa Horn, Ed Prep Instructor at Kosciusko-Attala CTC. “Our students have the opportunity to see firsthand what it means to be an educator while beginning to develop the skills, confidence, and professionalism they will need in their own classrooms.”
As these Ed Prep students begin working alongside local teachers, the experience marks a critical first milestone in their journey toward leading their own classrooms and inspiring future generations of students.
