One Injured in Early Morning Crash in Attala on New Year’s Day

Attala County deputies, Mississippi Highway Patrol, and EMS responded to a single-vehicle crash around 4:15 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, near the intersection of Highway 14 and Highway 43 South.

Just before the wreck was reported, a caller contacted authorities stating someone had knocked on their door twice and requested deputies check the area for a possible prowler.

Responding deputies later determined the individual was the driver of the overturned vehicle, who had gone to nearby homes seeking help after the crash.

The driver was found outside the vehicle and attempting to flag down motorists.

The driver complained of back pain and was transported by EMS to Baptist Attala for treatment. Mississippi Highway Patrol worked the crash.
