Attala FFA kicked off National FFA Week celebrations by hosting a Field Experience Day for all Attala County School District kindergarten and 1st graders.
The function included three learning stations for elementary youth:
- “Story Time” FFA members the books ‘Right This Very Minute” and “The Day the Farmers Quit.” The intent was to help students understand the sacrifice agriculturists make daily to sustain and improve our quality of life.
- “Let’s Go Grow.” Students visited the greenhouse to plant seeds like a farmer. Afterwards they explored the greenhouse to find colorful flowers, tiny cuttings, and fruits including lemons, limes, and pineapples.
- “Radical Reptiles.” Because of a partnership with the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, pupils had an opportunity to learn about and even touch a live alligator, snake, and turtle. Various furs from Mississippi mammals were investigated as well.
Attala FFA was pleased to assist with this hands-on learning experience for our county youth.
Attala FFA would like to give special thanks to Attala County Library for providing the books, all county school administration and staff, and Prairie Farms Dairy who provided ice cream for all students..
