KOSCIUSKO, Miss.–Maybe you heard it, maybe you didn’t. But, several people whose afternoons were upended by loud booms in the area around the Attala County Coliseum called 911 to report their concerns.
At first it was not clear to police what was causing the loud noises.
The calls kept coming. Kosciusko’s 911 dispatchers let officers know that more people were reporting the sounds. Finally, after some investigation officers were able to let people know that the booms were the sounds of victory.
There was a junior football league game going on and each time someone scored a touchdown an air cannon would sound.
So, dipatchers were able to let people know that nothing bad was going down and that some characxter-building activities were mounting high-caliber shofar for the youth of the community and that Gabriel’s horn would wait for the appropriate time.
