The Holmes Community College Bulldogs began their 2026 football season with a long road trip to Poplarville to play the Wildcats of Pearl River Community College. The Bulldogs had a 4 point lead after the opening quarter, 13-9 but the 2nd quarter belonged to the Wildcats scoring 19 points to the Bulldogs 7 points to take a 28-20 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Wildcats added 7 points to go up by 15 points in the 3rd quarter while keeping the Bulldogs off the scoreboard. In the final quarter, Pearl River added an additional 3 touchdowns to the Bulldogs 2 touchdowns giving the Wildcats a 23 point win, 56-33. Eddie Holly was named the Sullivan’s Drugs and Gifts player of the game. Next week the Bulldogs host Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Goodman.
