Sheriff Curtis Pope is glad to announce that the Attala County Sheriff’s Office has received new Kevlar vests thanks to a grant awarded by the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security.
Kevlar vests carry certification expiration dates, and all ACSO-issued vests were approaching or past their recommended service life. the grant arrived at a critical time and will help ensure deputies continue to have dependable protective equipment while serving and protecting the citizens of Attala County.
The Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) provides funds to local law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and emergency operations organizations to strengthen preparedness and protection against potential terrorist threats. Grant funding can be used for training, exercises, equipment, and supplies related to approved programs.
This marks the first year the Attala County Sheriff’s Office has received funding through the HSGP, and the department has already submitted an application for the current grant cycle.
Sheriff Pope and the Attala County Sheriff’s Office express sincere appreciation to the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security for its continued support of local agencies and commitment to officer safety.
