Attala Deputy and K-9 Partner Complete Handler Training Course

Attala County Sheriff’s Deputy Cobi Edwards recently completed the 160-hour K-9 Handler Course offered by the Olive Branch Police Department.

The training served as a refresher for K-9 Colby, who has been with the Attala County Sheriff’s Office for three years. Edwards was recently assigned as Colby’s handler, and the pair have developed a strong working relationship.

ACSO officials say Edwards and Colby performed well during training and demonstrated excellent teamwork.

The duo works to combat illegal drug activity and in locating and confiscating narcotics in Attala County. Aside from drug detection, Colby is also trained in search-and-rescue.

You may have noticed the similarity in their names, but it’s purely coincidental. Colby joined the Sheriff’s Office years before Edwards became his handler, but the two seem to be a perfect match on the job.
