A unique combination fly-in and car show is coming to the Kosciusko-Attala County Airport this fall to raise money for a worthy cause.

During Tuesday night’s Board of Aldermen meeting, city officials approved a request from Franks Chevrolet and the Kosy Cruisers Car Club to host the event Saturday, Oct. 17, benefiting Pilots for Patients.

Mayor Tim Kyle praised local pilot Stephen Franks, who regularly volunteers with Pilots for Patients to fly individuals from Mississippi and Louisiana to Houston for specialized cancer treatments at no cost.

The Oct. 17 fundraiser is expected to feature a car show, aircraft displays, airplane rides, food trucks and additional activities.

The event is still in the planning stages, but both the City of Kosciusko and Attala County have approved its use of the airport.

“We appreciate Stephen and all the other pilots who donate their time, their planes and their fuel to help people,” Kyle said.
