The Kosciusko Whippets will enter the Region 4–District 4A basketball tournament as top contenders on both the boys and girls sides, with each team earning favorable seeding and first-round byes.
All tournament games will be played at Louisville High School, beginning Monday, Feb. 9, and concluding Friday, Feb. 13, with district championship games.
Boys Tournament
The Kosciusko boys, seeded No. 1, will advance directly to the semifinals and play Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 5:30 p.m. in Game 2. Their opponent will be the winner of Monday’s opening-round matchup between No. 4 Gentry and No. 5 Louisville.
If the Whippets win, they will move on to the district championship game on Friday, Feb. 13, at 8:30 p.m. A loss would send them to the consolation game earlier that evening at 5:30 p.m.
The boys’ bracket also features No. 2 Yazoo City and No. 3 Greenwood, who will meet Tuesday night at 8:30 p.m. in the other semifinal.

Girls Tournament
On the girls side, Kosciusko enters as the No. 2 seed and will also open play in the semifinals. The Lady Whippets will face No. 3 Yazoo City on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. in Game 3.
With a win, Kosciusko would advance to the district championship game on Friday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. A loss would place them in the consolation game earlier that day at 4 p.m.
The girls’ bracket is led by No. 1 Louisville, which will take on the winner of Monday’s opening-round contest between No. 4 Greenwood and No. 5 Gentry.

Postseason Implications
Both Kosciusko teams will be looking to make strong tournament runs and secure momentum heading into the state playoffs. District championships are on the line Friday night, along with valuable seeding for the upcoming postseason.
