Local residents can help shape the city’s growing green space at the upcoming TREES MS Open House Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026. The drop-in event runs from 8:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Kosciusko High School (415 Veterans Memorial Drive).
Attendees should use the “Commons” entrance on the north side near the parking lot.
The session highlights upcoming tree planting initiatives for Jason Niles Park and Kosciusko Lower Elementary School.
Visitors will have the opportunity to review site plans, share feedback, and sign up for upcoming community planting workdays.
The initiative is part of the Trees for Restoration, Ecology, Economy, & Society in Mississippi program, delivered by the non-profit Green Infrastructure Center in partnership with the City of Kosciusko and the Kosciusko School District. Funding is provided by the USDA Forest Service through an Urban & Community Forestry grant administered by the Mississippi Forestry Commission.
