Mississippi Blood Services is issuing an urgent appeal for blood donors amid a critical shortage across the state, with two community blood drives scheduled in Kosciusko early next month.
The first local drive will take place Thursday, Sept. 3, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Attala from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. A second Kosciusko drive will be held Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7, in the Walmart parking lot from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome.
Mississippi Blood Services says donors, especially those with A, B, and O blood types, are needed immediately to ensure local hospitals have an adequate supply of lifesaving blood products.
Presenting donors will receive a thank-you gift at the time of donation. In addition, anyone who donates blood starting Aug. 29 will automatically be entered into the “Road to the Dome” giveaway for a chance to win four tickets to see the New Orleans Saints take on the Atlanta Falcons at the Caesars Superdome.
Anyone unable to attend the Kosciusko dates can find additional donation opportunities across the region throughout September.
