The old Attala County Jail is being demolished. According to Brad Whittington, vice president of the Attala County Board of Supervisors, the building was a safety hazard, and they didn’t want anyone to get hurt. The jail was unusable for its original purpose, so it was better to simply demolish the building and reclaim the plot. At the moment, there are no plans to build anything in its place.
The Attala County Jail was originally shut down in 2016 after two failed attempts at building a new jail.
