Sheriff Curtis Pope Announces Attala County Roadside Cleanup Program

SHARE NOW

Attala county now has a van and trailer to be used to clean up trash along county roadways.

The program started in March and allows individuals to work off justice court fines by picking up litter. Officials say the program will not involve state inmates as it did in the past.

Officials hope the effort will help keep Attala County cleaner while giving residents a way to pay fines through community service.

I live on a county road off of 35 South and people throw trash out as they pass. My grand kids and I picks up the trash and every time it’s @ least 3 39 gallon garbage bags full. It just looks too bad on the road for me to drive by and look at it and everyday. Maybe you all can do a community clean up project if they aren’t able to. My cousin did it in the Possumneck community and she had several to volunteer to help get it cleaned up. Just a suggestion.
