Sheriff’s Office Successfully Diffuses Shooting Incident Wednesday in Attala

The Attala County Sheriff’s Office swiftly responded to a potentially dangerous situation on Wednesday, March 27, following a call reporting shots fired at a residence on Attala Rd. 5053. Attala County Deputies and Sheriff Curtis Pope arrived to find the alleged shooter barricaded inside the premises.

According to Sheriff Pope, the individual refused to cooperate with law enforcement for some time. However, through negotiations, the Sheriff’s Office managed to peacefully resolve the standoff without any weapons being brandished by the suspect.

The alleged shooter, identified as Jamie Black, was eventually persuaded to surrender peacefully. Black was taken into custody without further incident. He has been charged with aggravated assault and has been transported to the Leake County Correctional Facility.
