Whippets’ Whitehead named Dandy Dozen for 2nd year in a row

For the second year in a row, Kosciusko Whippet softball player Anna Grace Whitehead has been named to The Clarion-Ledger’s Dandy Dozen.

That announcement was made Monday morning by Clarion-Ledger reporter Michael Chavez.

Whitehead has played for Kosciusko since the 2021-2022 season. That season she helped lead the team to its 2nd straight 4A State Championship.

In 2023, Whitehead and the Whippets were Region 4-4A Champs and advanced to the North State Championship series for the 8th straight season.

So far in 2024, the senior pitcher has a record 10-2 with an ERA of 2.68 in 76.1 innings pitched. She also has recorded 106 strikeouts, including 16 in a game against Choctaw County.

Offensively, Whitehead leads the Whippets in batting average (.490), hits (24), and RBIs (20).

In November, Whitehead signed to play college softball with Jones College.

This is the third season in a row the Kosciusko Whippet softball team has had a player named to the Dandy Dozen.
