The “Echoes of History: America 250 Lecture Series” continues today, Tuesday, June 16, in Kosciusko, with the next presentation set for 6 p.m.
Presented by the Attala Historical Society in celebration of America 250, the series is held each Tuesday in June at 6 p.m. at the Mary Ricks Thornton Cultural Center.
The program brings together local historians and guest speakers to explore key moments, places, and people that helped shape the history of Attala County and Mississippi, connecting local stories to the broader history of the United States as part of the nationwide America 250 commemoration.
Today’s June 16 lecture is titled “The Natchez Trace.”
The presentation will examine the role the Natchez Trace played in the development of the United States, highlighting its importance in early travel, trade, and westward expansion, and how this historic corridor helped shape both Mississippi and the nation.

This program will explore the economic history of Kosciusko and Attala County, from the earliest days along the Trace to the growth of commerce, agriculture, and industry that shaped the community.
