Four Health Science students from the Kosciusko-Attala Career & Technical Center recently represented their program on an international stage, competing at the 2026 HOSA International Leadership Conference held June 16–21 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Sara Coleman, Emerson Powers, Madeline Owen, and Sadie Standard joined more than 15,000 students, advisors, and healthcare professionals from around the world for the weeklong event, which also marked HOSA’s 50th anniversary.
While in Indianapolis, the students competed in their respective HOSA events and took part in a full slate of leadership development activities, educational workshops, and networking sessions designed to prepare future healthcare professionals. Organizers say the experience allows students to strengthen both technical knowledge and leadership skills while connecting with peers from across the country.
One of the highlights of the conference was the HOSA General Sessions, held inside Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts. Students also spent time exploring the conference’s expansive exhibit hall, where colleges, universities, healthcare organizations, and industry representatives showcased educational and career pathways in the medical field.
Beyond the conference itself, the group also experienced several of Indianapolis’ most popular attractions. That included attending a WNBA matchup between the Indiana Fever and the Chicago Sky, featuring standout players Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, as well as a visit to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum and time spent watching on-track racing activities.
Health Science instructor Amy Price praised the students for their representation of the school and community.
“I am incredibly proud of these young ladies for the way they represented our school and community,” Price said. “The knowledge, leadership skills, and experiences they gained throughout the week are invaluable. I am thankful for everyone who sponsored these students and helped make this opportunity possible.”
The Health Science program also expressed appreciation to the individuals and local businesses whose sponsorships made the trip possible, noting that their support helped provide students with a hands-on opportunity to compete, learn, and grow at the international level.
