Mississippi Blood Services is bringing lifesaving mobile blood drives to East Mississippi this month, with two community blood drives scheduled in Kosciusko.
The first Kosciusko blood drive will take place Thursday, Aug. 6, at Citizens National Bank from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. A second local drive will be held Friday, Aug. 14, at the Attala County Library from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome as space allows.
Mississippi Blood Services notes that local hospital patients rely on volunteer donors, as a single donation can help save up to three lives.
As part of the “Race to Save Lives” Back-to-School Giveaway, anyone who donates blood at a participating mobile drive between Aug. 1 and Aug. 31 will automatically be entered for a chance to win one of two $500 Visa gift cards. Presenting donors will also receive a thank-you gift at the time of donation.
Donors are asked to bring a photo ID, eat a healthy meal, and stay hydrated prior to donating.
