Students in the Educator Preparation and Health Science programs at the Kosciusko-Attala Career and Technical Center recently reached an important milestone after earning certification in CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) use through hands-on training at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Attala.

The training gave students practical, life-saving skills, including how to properly perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and safely operate an AED during emergency situations.

School officials say the certification strengthens students’ preparation for careers in education and healthcare, while also equipping them to respond confidently in real-world emergencies.

The certification program was made possible through the support and instruction of hospital staff. Officials extended special thanks to Allison Schuler, CEO of Baptist-Attala, along with Lisa Jones, Debbie Coleman, JoAna Roos, and Hope Rodgers for their time and dedication to leading the training sessions.

Leaders at the Kosciusko-Attala Career and Technical Center say partnerships like this one with Baptist Memorial Hospital-Attala help provide meaningful, real-world learning experiences that prepare students for success beyond the classroom.

They add that CPR and AED certification ensures students are not only career-ready, but also prepared to make a difference in their communities when emergencies arise.
